William E. Lally, PhD is an associate professor of Criminal Justice at Eureka College where he has been teaching forensics since 2012. Prior to teaching, Dr. Lally worked in law enforcement beginning in 1994 as a patrol officer. During his 18-year career, Lally has served in a variety of roles including patrol sergeant, investigations, and eventually police chief.

Lally holds a PhD in Criminology from Bowling Green State University as well as a Master and Bachelor of Criminal Justice Science from Illinois State University. He is also a member of the International Association for Identification and the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysists. Additionally, Dr. Lally’s work has been published in scholarly journals including Crime & Delinquency and the Journal of Forensic Identification. His current research interest looks at the behavior of blood resulting from traumatic incidents.
