Objectives:

Few topics in law enforcement cause more public scrutiny than police use of force. Designed primarily for line officers and first line supervisors, this course provides tools to make reasonable use of force decisions, while increasing officer safety. Through guided discussion, video analysis and case studies, participants will explore:
• Current use of force trends
• Human performance factors affecting decision making
• Countering the “Culture of Speed”
• Enhance situational awareness (behavioral threat analysis)
• Training tips for enhanced officer safety
• Preparing for the aftermath of use of force
• C.Y.A. (Can You Articulate?) report writing
