In this course the instructor will present tools to help increase the resiliency of officers while equipping them to train and respond to their fellow officers. A resilient, pro-active department focused on mental fitness increases performance, morale, retention, and recruitment.

Upon completion, students will be able to:
• Investigate the connection between suicide, PTSD, and the traumas of service.
• Create a culture of resiliency and pro-active community awareness for first responder issues.
• Learn and use simple peer support tools that can be used in your department and your community.
• Respond quicker to officers in crisis to decrease the risks of self-medication, family troubles, and suicide.

This program is funded through a grant from the
Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
