Keith Zupec, Wicklander-Zulawski & Assoc., Inc.

Keith Zupec, CFI® has been an active law enforcement professional with the Waukegan (Illinois) Police Department since 1998. He served for two years as a uniformed patrol officer before being promoted to detective in the Criminal Investigations Division. After three years, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant
and then to Supervisor of the Criminal Investigations Division. Later he became
second in command of Adult Investigations while also overseeing and conducting training for the 27-member SWAT Team. Currently Keith serves as a Deputy Chief.
During his tenure with the Criminal Investigations Division, Keith conducted
thousands of interviews and interrogations in over 150 death and homicide investigations. All of his homicide cases have been successfully concluded through either arrests or by
outstanding arrest warrants.
In 2009 Keith joined Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc. (WZ) as an instructor. He has received numerous state and local awards for his law enforcement service. He is a member of the International Homicide Investigators Association, the Illinois Tactical Officers Association, the National Tactical Officers
Association, and is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI®). To qualify for this distinction, a person must pass a standardized examination, which covers a series of topics regarding the interviewing and interrogation
process. The CFI® demonstrates understanding of legal aspects of interviewing and proficiency in interview preparation, behavioral, analysis, accusatory and non-accusatory interviewing, documentation, and presentation of findings. The objective of this certification program is to create comprehensive, universally accepted professional standards combined with an objective measure of an interviewer’s knowledge of those standards.
