Dennis Valone, Command Presence

Captain Dennis Valone has spent the last 22 years working in the Public Safety arena. He began his career as an EMT in 1995 and worked his way up to Paramedic and ultimately served as a Tactical Paramedic for a large Florida Sheriff’s Office. Once he was bitten by the law enforcement bug, he became a full time Deputy Sheriff at the Manatee County Sheriffs Offices assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division. Dennis worked a variety of assignments including Canine Handler, Crimes Against Children Detective, and served on an FBI Task Force.

Dennis moved to the Metro Atlanta area in 2007 and began working for the Alpharetta Police Department. Dennis has worked various assignments including Uniform Patrol Supervisor and Uniform Patrol Commander, Internal Affairs Commander, Community Relations Commander, and SWAT Team Leader. Captain Valone is currently the Commander of the Department of Public Safety Training Division. In this assignment he oversees all training for the Alpharetta Police Department and Fire Department.

Dennis has an extensive background in law enforcement training. He has held his instructor certification since 2002 and has taught at police academies in Florida and Georgia. In 2009, he was instrumental in starting a new police academy at a local university. During his tenure at the academy he was a class coordinator and taught constitutional law, firearms, emergency driving, and defensive tactics. Dennis has taught for several nationally recognized organizations including Calibre Press, National Tactical Officers Association, Below 100, and the Bureau of Justice Assistance VALOR Officer Safety Initiative.

Captain Valone is the Immediate Past President of the Georgia Tactical Officers Association and is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association. Dennis is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. He has earned his Bachelor of Science in Executive Management and Masters in Public Safety Administration.
