Kevin McNeal, The 420 Group

Kevin McNeal has been teaching on a wide variety of interdiction courses since 2008. He was hired by the Greensboro (NC) Police Department in 2001 and completed the North Carolina State Basic Law Enforcement Training. He graduated with the highest Academic Achievement Award. Since then, Mr. McNeal has been recognized as the Rookie Police Officer of the Year, Business and Crime Prevention Police Officer of the Year, Crime Stoppers Police Officer of the Year, and for his efforts within the Hotel Industry during “Project 2400”. He has been awarded his North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate and is a member of the International Interdiction Officers Association (INIA) 2011 International Interdiction Group of the Year.

Mr. McNeal has served as a Patrol Officer, Police Training Officer, and uniformed street level Narcotics Officer. Currently, he is assigned to the Narcotics Division on the Investigative Interdiction Team as an investigator and canine handler. Furthermore, he is a Bomb Technician on the Department’s regional Hazardous Devices Team. Mr. McNeal has received extensive training in the fields of Narcotics Interdiction, Terrorism, and Explosives from numerous local, state and federal agencies to include the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Army.

He is a certified North Carolina General Instructor and also holds a Hazardous Materials & Explosives Specialized Instructor certification. He has authored and presented training to local and state officers on narcotics, critical incidents & tactical situations, and improvised explosives.

The Greensboro Police Investigative Interdiction Team proactively works freight companies, storage units, buses, AMTRAK trains, storage lockers, parcels, and hotel/motels. The group has recorded substantial seizures from hotel/motel interdiction investigations comparable to larger cities making this area of interdiction their specialty.

Kevin entered the service with the U.S. Army where he served over seven years conducting reconnaissance and security operations with the 18th Airborne Corps and U.S. Forces Korea. In addition to achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and attending numerous military schools, Mr. McNeal studied at Central Texas College.
