Brian started his law enforcement career with the Chicago Ridge Police Department in April 1988. Brian served as the Juvenile Officer and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) and Violence Education Gang Awareness (VEGA) officer from 1994-2002. In 2002, he was promoted to patrol Sergeant and in 2008 he was promoted to Commander of Operations. In 2017, Brian was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Operations.

Brian believes that the strong connection with the community and the police department makes this village a great place to live. Brian has presented to community members in the area victim prevention and crime prevention techniques. When he was assigned to the Juvenile Division, Brian taught the DARE and VEGA programs to students in our schools. Back in 1996, Brian revitalized the police department’s Crime Prevention Unit that led to state recognition, including Brian being prestigiously awarded the State of Illinois Officer of the Year by the Illinois Crime Prevention Association. Brian has received extensive training in the field of crime prevention and detection, crimes against children, and police procedures in juvenile matters from various police training institutes. Brian is also a certified crisis negotiator and is part of the 5th District SWAT Response Team.

Brian attended Moraine Valley Community College and Columbia Southern University for applied studies in Criminal Justice: attended the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board Leadership program through Western Illinois University and attended Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, School of Police Staff and Command, class #385.

Brian is a certified instructor with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, Springfield, Illinois. He is an instructor for area police academies and mobile training teams in Illinois; he also speaks on a national platform to criminal justice professionals.

Brian is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police; Illinois Juvenile Officers Association; Illinois Police Instructors Trainers Association; National Juvenile Justice Trainers Association; National Tactical Officers Association; Illinois Tactical Officers Association and the Illinois Crisis Negotiators Association.
