This 24-hour course is designed as continuing education to equip certified instructors with the knowledge, skills, and instructional techniques necessary to effectively train today’s law enforcement professionals. The course begins with a focus on the foundations of adult learning and instructional theory, helping participants understand how to effectively deliver training material to a diverse range of students. Participants will explore learning styles, communication techniques, coaching strategies, and methods for creating meaningful student engagement both on the range and in the classroom. Students will also learn how to develop clear and structured lesson plans that align with training objectives, agency policy, legal considerations, and safety protocols
In addition to instructional methodology, the course places a strong emphasis on developing a professional training mindset and establishing a positive range culture. Topics include building officer confidence, managing performance under stress, fostering accountability, and creating an environment that promotes growth and continual improvement. Instructor range wellness and longevity are also addressed.
Participants will learn to conduct effective safety briefings, manage live-fire exercises, diagnose shooter issues, and oversee range operations in a safe and organized manner.
Live-fire portions will evaluate each participant’s shooting proficiency, weapons handling, and ability to demonstrate techniques in a clear, safe, and controlled manner. Participants will also be evaluated on their ability to instruct, communicate, and provide corrective feedback while maintaining professionalism and range safety standards.
