This course is designed to provide refresher training for current Field Training Officers and Field Training Supervisors. The material will focus on areas that cause frequent problems in Field Training Programs, such as; inconsistent training, inconsistent evaluating, biased based decision making, failure to understand Adult Learning Theory roadblocks, and improper correction of poor performance. The course will also focus on case law and legal primers necessary to properly run an affective and legally defensible FTO Program.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Utilize the scale value system
  • Provide proper initial instruction
  • Utilize proven training methods to correct poor performance
  • Properly complete the DOR
  • Define the Likert Scale
  • Role of the FTO

Prerequisites: It is recommended that the student has completed a basic field training officer course. Students should be familiar with their department’s field training program.
